The International Forum “Universities and Cultural Routes” will take place for the first time in Santiago de Compostela on 13 and 14 November 2024, with the following mission:

    • To identify higher education institutions committed to preserve and strengthen cultural routes in Europe, the Mediterranean and the Americas.
    • To highlight and make visible the actions carried out to date by the different actors involved.
    • To draw up an action plan and common strategy for the 2024-2026 biennium.

If you are part of a network of universities, a university or an organisation focused on studies on cultural routes or have a particular interest in the research of the great Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, you are encouraged to apply for participation.

ACCOMMODATION

The organisation will provide logistical support to registered participants for the booking of accommodation in Santiago de Compostela during the days of the event. Details of this support will be provided once registration has been formalised and participation has been confirmed.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

Cultural heritage of the
University of Santiago de Compostela

The cultural programme of the International Forum “Universities and Cultural Routes” includes a guided tour of the rich and extensive university, artistic and bibliographic heritage surrounding the University of Santiago de Compostela.

Participants will have the opportunity to get a close-up look at all the details and appreciate the immeasurable value of the heritage of the University Campus, the centres of interest in history and its most emblematic buildings.

The Camino de Santiago

Participants will also have the opportunity to walk a short section of the Portuguese Camino de Santiago, whose origins date back to the reign of Alfonso VI of Castile and Leon (1065-1109) and his daughters Urraca and Teresa, reaching our days as the second best known Jacobean itinerary at international level.
