The Paraninfo of the University of Seville will hold the main activities of the network’s annual meeting from 21 to 22 September 2023.

The Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) and the University of Seville (US) opened yesterday the registration period for the XXIX General Assembly of the CGU, which will be hosted by the US at its campus in the Andalusian capital from 21 to 22 September 2023. In the event’s web section on the network website, those interested in participating can find the preliminary programme, both for the academic and cultural activities, as well as recommendations on travel arrangements and accommodation bookings.

The paraninfo of the US will be the venue for the CGU’s General Council meeting. In its first part, the main actions carried out by the network since the last annual meeting will be summarised and the awarding ceremony for the VII Research Pitches Contest will be held. Moreover, in the second part, the member universities will elect the candidate who will hold the presidency of the network for the 2024-2027 period. If the highest representative of the institution is unable to attend the election day, s/he has the option of delegating his/her vote to another person attending. The deadline for communicating this delegation to the Executive Secretariat is 31 July.

The first day will end with the awarding of the golden shell to Luis Antonio Miguel Quintales, professor at the University of Salamanca, during the presentation ceremony of the XXVII International Prize Grupo Compostela-Xunta de Galicia. Afterwards, those attending this recognition will have dinner in the Patio de la Fuente of the US.

On the second day, the academic sessions will address the theme evoked by the title of the meeting, “Networks of networks, wisely approaching the future”. The Compostela Dialogues in Higher Education will be a forum for the representatives of various institutional networks from Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. As for the Compostela Café, participants will be able to choose between the two thematic tables, ‘European University Alliances. How to get synergies’ and ‘Alliances and projects between Europen and Ibero-American Universities’.

This last day will close with the presentation of the marble shell to the University of Seville, in recognition of the work carried out in organising the twenty-ninth annual meeting of the Compostela Group of Universities.
