The ‘WithArt on the Camino’ initiative is part of the O Teu Xacobeo programme of the Xunta de Galicia.
‘WithArt on the Camino. Fine Arts for the transfer of universal values of the Camino’ project developed by the Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) and integrated into the O Teu Xacobeo programme of the Xunta de Galicia, seeks to bring artists closer to the environment of the Camino de Santiago to acquire new life experiences. Experiences that would be a source of inspiration in the creation of plastic artworks and scenography, and that later serve as vehicles for the transfer of knowledge and promote their didactic use.
The 61 member universities of the CGU have been invited to participate in this project, co-led by the universities of Coruña and Santiago de Compostela. Undergraduate and postgraduate students and researchers from these institutions can submit their applications for the activity grants until 30 July 2021. The grants will cover accommodation, meals, local transport, materials for their artistic creations and civil liability insurance for the selected students.
In the second phase of the project, the 18 selected grant holders will participate from 23 to 29 September in academic, cultural and social integration activities carried out along the Camino de Santiago in the municipality of Ferrol. Their journey will culminate in a final conference, which will take place on 30 September in Santiago de Compostela.
Moreover, ‘WithArt on the Camino’ incorporates a sustainability plan that contemplates the creation of a Club da Caldeira de Artistas of the CGU, in which its members will interact in the search for new opportunities linked to the Fine Arts, the transmission of European values and the dissemination of the rich heritage of the Camino.
