The GCU took part in the 14th Annual Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, held in Cappadocia (Türkiye), where it was specially invited to coordinate the meeting of universities belonging to the network of the European Institute of Cultural Routes. During the event, it was announced that the Institute had been granted the 2025 Grupo Compostela–Xunta de Galicia Prize.

As part of his pilgrimage along the Camino Portugués, Professor David Green, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Worcester (United Kingdom), held a series of institutional meetings between 23 and 29 May 2025 with representatives of the Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) and its member institutions. These activities were part of the Meetings on the Way initiative, promoted by the CGU to reinforce academic ties along the Camino de Santiago.
