The president of the Compostela Group of Universities (GCU) attended a preparatory meeting in Paris, invited by the European Institute of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, aimed at strengthening the academic dimension of European cultural routes.

On 15–16 December 2025, the GCU president participated in a meeting organized by the European Institute of Cultural Routes at the Council of Europe headquarters in Paris. The meeting brought together representatives from member states, the Governing Board of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes, and experts and coordinators of certified cultural routes.

The meeting focused on reviewing the thematic representativeness of the Cultural Routes Programme and developing recommendations for its strategic development, aligned with the Council of Europe’s values, including democracy, human rights, intercultural dialogue, and universal access to culture.

GCU’s participation reinforced the academic perspective in discussions about European cultural heritage, promoting research, training, and collaboration. This involvement reflects the Group’s commitment to transnational cooperation and the integration of universities into European cultural initiatives.
