The president and the executive secretary of the CGU welcomed a delegation of CEDIA at the network’s headquarters in Santiago de Compostela.
The president of the Compostela Group of Universities (CGU), Carla Martins, and the executive secretary, María Teresa Carballeira Rivera, hold an institutional meeting with Juan Pablo Carvallo, CEO of the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and Academia (CEDIA), and Gabriela Cáceres, head of Financial Resources. The meeting took place at the CGU headquarters in Santiago de Compostela on Monday, February 10, 2025.
After introducing their institutions, the participants discussed the main thematic axes and interests that unite the CGU and CEDIA, and they explored opportunities for creating joint initiatives to give a further boost to innovation, science and sustainable development in the university field.
Strengthening ties with the Ecuadorian Corporation aligns with the ongoing efforts of the CGU to collaborate with institutions across the Americas, and demonstrates the capacity of the network to be a significant global player in academia, science and society.
CEDIA is a non-profit association with offices in various strategic locations in Ecuador, through which it facilitates the articulation and collaboration among its partners in the ecosystem of Science, Technology and Innovation. Created in 2002 by eight national higher education institutions, it was constituted that same year before the vice-presidency of the Republic of Ecuador and the national secretary of Science and Technology. Today, it comprises nearly seventy universities, polytechnic schools, technological institutes, public research institutes, governmental entities and partner schools in the country.

On the same day, CGU and CEDIA representatives met with the rector of the University of Santiago de Compostela, Antonio López Díaz, to strengthen ties with the CGU’s leading partner university.
