The CGU Galicia-America High Level Table “Building bridges of internationalisation between Europe and America” is a pilot action designed within the framework of the Impulsa Programme of the Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) to create collaborative relationships between universities and internationalisation networks in Europe and America as well as to discuss new horizons of common interest for the period 2024-2027.
For this initiative, the CGU has the support of the Universities of the Galician University System (SUG) and the sponsorship of the autonomous government of the Xunta de Galicia, through the secretary-general for Universities of the Regional Ministry for Culture, Education, Vocational Training and Universities.
ACTIVITY AND FRAMEWORK
The CGU Galicia-America High Level Table “Building bridges of internationalization between Europe and America” is set up within the framework of the CGU’s Impulsa Programme.
PLACE AND DATES OF IMPLEMENTATION
The actors and experts for the CGU Galicia-America High Level Table are recruited in Europe and America through an agenda of meetings and networking events held in October and November 2023. Its actions and projection are addressed for the first time in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, on 30 November 2023.
MODALITY
Collaboration and work activities are carried out telematically and in person. Likewise, meetings for rapprochement and round table discussions are encouraged to materialise cooperation agreements and joint projects.
The specialised debate on the work axes and opportunities is held in face-to-face mode, with the option of online participation through the CGU’s Composnet.
ACADEMIC MANAGEMENT
The organisation, coordination and academic management of the activity is the responsibility of the CGU, under the leadership of the executive secretary, Maria Teresa Carballeira, the vice president, Slavomír Rudenko, and the president, Carla Martins.
TARGET GROUPS
The actors and experts of this initiative belong to internationalisation units of universities and networks of higher education institutions in America and Europe, from countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Spain, Slovakia, Hungary, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the Dominican Republic, among others to be progressively added to the list.
LANGUAGE
The working language of the Table is English.
The activity and its results are disseminated in English, Spanish and Galician.
WORKING AGENDA
The agenda of the Table includes two main blocks of actions:
- The first block includes a series of meetings and networking actions with institutions and university networks in the Americas in order to identify experts in internationalisation in those and other spheras with whom to explore new university horizons of mutual interest between continents.
- The second block involves the creation of sectorial groups and the implementation of working meetings in Galicia. The aim is to define strategies and develop projects in accordance with the objectives established in the short and medium term in the framework of the CGU Impulsa Programme for the period 2024-2027.
CULTURAL PROGRAMME
The CGU wishes to bring closer to the involved actors all the rich and extensive heritage that surrounds its headquarters at the University of Santiago de Compostela and Galicia.
To this end, the cultural programme of the Table within the framework of the CGU’s Impulsa Programme includes guided visits to the university, artistic and bibliographic heritage of the Galician University System (SUG), such as the one scheduled in November to the heritage of the University of Santiago de Compostela.
ACCOMMODATION
In order to facilitate and promote the visit of agents and experts to the headquarters in Galicia, the organisation covers part of the accommodation expenses in an arranged hotel for those participants who have a prior invitation.
PARTICIPATION
Participation in a CGU Galicia-America High Level Table of the CGU Impulsa Programme may be possible by previous invitation based on specific objectives.
