The Compostela Group of Universities (CGU), together with the sending universities from Region 10 of the Erasmus+ KA171-HED Project, has concluded the selection process for the mobilities corresponding to the 2024–2027 period. This call reinforces the consortium’s commitment to international academic cooperation by supporting the mobility of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students from the Americas to Europe, with a strong focus on inclusive social aspects and the academic promotion of young people with fewer opportunities, under the Erasmus+ funding framework of the European Union (reference 2024-1-ES01-KA171-HED-000239621).
The selected and waitlisted candidates for the Erasmus+ KA171-HED mobility belong to the fields of Engineering and Information and Communication Technologies, specifically in the areas of Software Development, Process Technology, and Mathematical Engineering at the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua in Mexico and Universidad de Oriente–UNIVO in El Salvador.
The traineeship mobility will take place over two months in a physical format with a virtual component between June and December 2026, in departments aligned with the students’ fields of study at the Project Consortium universities in Spain. Two positions will be hosted at the Computer Engineering academic unit of the University of León and the Chemical Engineering department of the University of Santiago de Compostela. A third position, linked to the integration of digital technologies and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria at the University of Oviedo, currently has one candidate on the waiting list.
Funding for the mobilities will be provided by the Compostela Group of Universities through the EU Erasmus+ KA171-HED Project approved by the National Agency via the Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education (SEPIE). Students undertaking traineeships will receive grants of up to 1,735 euros depending on travel distance to cover green travel expenses, along with an individual support allowance of 79 euros per day to cover the costs of the physical stay at the host department. These grants will be managed by the host universities within the Consortium in Spain. In addition, an application process will be opened for supplementary financial support for students with fewer opportunities.
The Erasmus+ KA171-HED Project is one of two initiatives currently underway within the Erasmus+ KA130-HED Consortium, composed of the universities of Santiago de Compostela, Oviedo, León, and A Coruña, and accredited by SEPIE to design and promote mobility initiatives between the Americas and Europe. The second ongoing initiative is the Erasmus+ KA131-HED Project, which supports students and staff mobility for teaching and traineeships among European universities in Spain, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, and toward universities in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Brazil.
