M.A. Valeria Padilla Navarro, treasurer of the Executive Committee of the Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) and coordinator of Internationalisation at the University of Guadalajara (UdeG), has assumed the vice presidency of the Mexican Association for International Education (AMPEI) for the 2026–2027 term.

During her mandate, Padilla Navarro will contribute her experience to strengthening the responsible internationalisation of higher education by promoting strategies for training, research, and academic cooperation. She will carry out this work alongside other members of the new Board of Directors who are also part of the CGU community, such as José Betancourt Villa, president of AMPEI and director of International Cooperation at the Autonomous University of Guerrero (UAGro), and Scott Venezia, secretary general of AMPEI and director of International Relations at CETYS University, both institutions belonging to the CGU network.

The new AMPEI Board of Directors assumes its responsibilities in a context marked by challenges such as the revitalization of international mobility, the need to strengthen the quality of global academic programs, and the importance of promoting interculturality and internationalization at home. From its new position, the board will help articulate strategies that benefit both Mexican institutions and the international networks with which it collaborates, including the CGU.

The institutional relationship between the CGU and AMPEI was formalised in January 2024 through a framework agreement that established the foundations for collaboration over the next ten years in the development of international programs across the Americas. The agreement outlines broad guidelines for joint action, coordination, and increased efforts to promote university initiatives that strengthen intercontinental cooperation and the global projection of both organizations.
