The President of the Compostela Group of Universities (GCU), Carla Martins, and the Executive Secretary, Teresa Carballeira Rivera, are participating in the 14th Annual Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, held from 22 to 24 October 2025 in the Cappadocia region of Turkey.

During the event, Carla Martins took part in the meeting of the University Network for Cultural Routes Studies as biennial Chair (2024–2026) of the Network, whose coordination was entrusted to the GCU in 2024. In her presentation, she highlighted the collaboration established in 2019 between the Compostela Group of Universities and the European Institute of Cultural Routes through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, which has strengthened cooperation between academia and the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.

Under the theme “Council of Europe Cultural Routes and Landscapes: Advancing Heritage Protection through Cultural and Sustainable Tourism,” the Forum brings together institutional representatives, cultural route managers, academics, and heritage experts.

GCU’s participation reinforces its commitment to promoting European cultural heritage and fostering international academic cooperation, consolidating its active role within the university network connected to the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.
