University of Extremadura
History and objectives
The first university centre (the Faculty of Sciences in the city of Badajoz) was inaugurated in 1968 and belonged to the University of Sevilla. Later, in 1971, the Spanish Ministry Council approved the constitution in the city of Cáceres of the Arts Faculty which was attached to the University of Salamanca. The University of Extremadura was set up officially in 1973.
