For academic staff
The Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) organises activities specifically aimed at the academic of its member universities. They arise from our network’s commitment to fostering cooperation in the sphere of Higher Education, through the implementation of initiatives that favour the dissemination of knowledge, contribute to professional development and encourage the online collaboration of these members of our community.
Dissemination of knowledge
The academic community of the CGU member universities is composed of professionals from 28 countries specialised in the different areas of knowledge.
The Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) together with CETYS University launches the Compostela Group of Universities-CETYS Chair to promote international experience, mobility and exchange of teachers and researchers, through the annual call for a visiting professor position at the Mexican university.
The editorial work of the network emerged as a vehicle for the dissemination of European values in Higher Education. The CGU has edited publications related to European topics, the Camino de Santiago, the International Prize Grupo Compostela-Xunta de Galicia, cultural heritage or the impact of COVID-19.
Seminars, congresses and conferences
The CGU members are invited to participate in the seminars, congresses and conferences we organise. These events are an important networking tool where every year international experts gather around the tables of Compostela Dialogues in Higher Education and Compostela Café to analyse the main trends in the sector during our general assemblies. We also coordinate the holding of congresses, seminars and meetings within the framework of the Compostela Academy on the Camino.
Pools of experts
The CGU encourages the institution of meeting points for academic staff through its pools of university experts, which bring together experienced professionals from various academic disciplines to cooperate on research projects such as Camiñolab.
Training and professional development
Professionals at CGU member universities must adapt their careers to a constantly evolving labour market and keep pace with the changing times. Faced with this demand for continuous training in the workplace, our network aims to support the professional development of academic staff at CGU member universities through our training initiatives.
Our training is online so that users can combine their academic development with their obligations.
You can find out more about our training offer on this page.
The community of the more than 60 member universities has the opportunity to bridge the gap by the optimised online contact networks of the Compostela Group of Universities.
The main one is our social network Composnet, which facilitates the building of an online contact network. The first step in joining this community of digital pilgrims is to complete the registration form, in which academic and service staff can indicate their preferences and interests. Once inside, they gain access to a secure and guaranteed environment that allows them to connect with colleagues in their field to advance research initiatives, exchange knowledge and best practices, and even become hosts during visits to their university.
