For academic staff

The Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) organises activities specifically aimed at the academic of its member universities. They arise from our network’s commitment to fostering cooperation in the sphere of Higher Education, through the implementation of initiatives that favour the dissemination of knowledge, contribute to professional development and encourage the online collaboration of these members of our community.

Dissemination of knowledge

The academic community of our member universities is composed of experts in different areas of knowledge from 25 countries.

Our network promotes the international mobility of academic staff by way of the Compostela Group of Universities Chair. This initiative allows them to carry out short-term stays in other associated higher education institutions.

Publications

The editorial work of the CGU emerged as a vehicle for the dissemination of European values in Higher Education. We have edited publications related to European topics, the Camino de Santiago, the International Prize Grupo Compostela-Xunta de Galicia, cultural heritage or the impact of COVID-19.

Seminars, congresses and conferences

Academic staff is invited to participate in seminars, congresses or conferences organised by the network. These events are an important networking tool.

We annually gather international experts around the tables of the Compostela Dialogues in Higher Education and the Compostela Café, where they analyse the main trends in the sector during our general assemblies. We also plan activities of this nature within the Compostela Academy on the Camino.

Pools of experts

The Compostela Group of Universities encourages the institution of meeting points for academic staff with its pools of university experts, which bring together experienced professionals from various academic disciplines to cooperate on research projects such as Camiñolab.

Training and professional development

The staff of our member institutions must adapt their careers to a constantly evolving labour market and keep pace with the changing times. Faced with this demand for continuous learning in the work environment, we want to support the professional development of academic staff through our training initiatives.

Courses are conducted online and students can progress at their own pace, making it easier for them to combine it with their work obligations.

Online networking

The community of the more than 60 member universities has the opportunity to bridge the gap via the optimised online contact networks of the CGU.

Composnet

The main one is our social network Composnet, which facilitates the building of an online contact network. The first step in joining this community of digital pilgrims is to complete the registration form, in which academic and service staff can indicate their preferences and interests. Once inside, they gain access to a secure and guaranteed environment that allows them to connect with colleagues in their field to advance research initiatives, exchange knowledge and best practices, and even become hosts during visits to their university.
