International Seminar on the Camino de Santiago and Europe

The Compostela Group of Universities and the Cátedra do Camiño de Santiago e das Peregrinacións organised the International Seminar on the Camino de Santiago and Europe, held at the University of Santiago de Compostela from 23 to 25 October. This international seminar was part of the programme of activities designed by the Xunta de Galicia to commemorate the 30thanniversary of the Declaration of Santiago, which designated the Camino as the first cultural route of the Council of Europe.

This seminar, interdisciplinary and international, was open to the participation of all those interested in broadening their knowledge about this pilgrimage route and the European project. In addition, in order to facilitate the participation of doctoral students and students from CGU’s member universities, the organisers awarded 11 scholarships to cover the costs of accommodation and meals for non-residents in Santiago de Compostela participants.

During the three days of the international seminar, more than 50 international experts and students attended a series of lectures and debates that addressed the legal, social and cultural aspects of the Camino de Santiago and Europe.
