International Meeting of Rectors on the Camino de Santiago

The Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) and the Consellería de Cultura y Turismo of the Xunta de Galicia – Regional Ministry of Culture and Tourism – collaborate in the organisation of the International Meeting of Rectors on the Camino de Santiago, which will take place on 9-11 October 2019 in Santiago de Compostela (Spain).

The aim of this international meeting is to bring Galicia closer to the rectors of the CGU partner universities in order to dialogue and debate on the implementation of sustainable development goals (SDGs) in Higher Education and the European Universities Initiative, endorsed by the European Union.

The programme combines academic activities, with lectures by outstanding speakers who are experts in the above-mentioned topics, as well as experiential and concord activities. The participants will be able to enjoy experiences such as:

  • Cultural visits to the towns of Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña or Chantada.
  • Walking the section Diomondi-Chantada of the Winter Way in the Ribeira Sacra.

Besides, the programme will include festive activities to commemorate the 25th anniversary of CGU’s foundation.

The preliminary programme of the event is available here.

Those intending to be assisted by the CGU in their transport and accommodation bookings must submit the necessary documentation by 30th July 2019.

Due to the high-rate of hotel occupancy in October in Santiago de Compostela, the CGU recommends those interested in participating in the event to make their bookings as soon as possible.
