The Spanish National Register of Associations informed last December the Compostela Group of Universities of its decision in favour of declaring the network an association of public benefit.

This declaration implies a social recognition of the work developed in the last 26 years by our university network, whose statutory aim is to facilitate and foster cooperation in all fields related to Higher Education. Besides, it has a series of benefits associated with it, such as free legal assistance, tax exemptions and the use of the mention ‘declared as an association of public benefit’ in all kinds of documents, after its name. It also implies an active commitment to transparency and accountability, following the same path of the previous years.

The initiative to submit the application for this recognition came from the Executive Secretary of the Compostela Group of Universities, Teresa Carballeira Rivera, and was supported by the members of the Executive Committee of the network.
